MAYK collaborator and UK based dance theatre practitioner Raquel Meseguer Zafe has been commissioned by West German Broadcasting to adapt her performance piece A Crash Course in Cloudspotting into a Radio Play.
A Crash Course in Cloudspotting is an intimate audio journey and installation, produced by MAYK, that shares stories from people with chronic illnesses that require them to rest in public. The piece was featured as part of Mayfest 2022 and Horizon Showcase at Edinburgh Fringe 2023. It explores these everyday stories and acts of bravery, told with honesty and frankness.
In February, we did a call out for Europe-based German speakers who'd like to add their stories to the archive, as well as take part in a creative writing workshop led by Raquel. Saturday 9 November from 7:04pm CET, the Radio Play will be available to listen to via WDR3. Access the channel by clicking the button below. We invite you to connect with stories about the subversive act of lying down and to come along on a meditative journey about resting, gravity and weightlessness.
