Memory of Birds - Audience Guides Call Out

Mayfest are looking for confident and sensitive people to join us as hosts & be a part of supporting our audiences to embark on a unique journey into the enchanting world of Memory of Birds by Tania El Khoury.

Memory of Birds is an interactive sound installation in trees in collaboration with a trauma therapist and migrating birds. The work is a guided somatic experience that explores political violence that literally and figuratively gets buried in contested lands.

As an Audience Guide, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our audiences (a one on one encounter) enjoy a seamless and immersive experience within pods suspended from the trees of a ‘secret’ outdoor location in Bristol.

Role

You will be asked to:

  • Greet and welcome guests for arrival

  • Be comfortable with performing / public speaking (there is a short script that needs to be read to each audience member before they are led to the tree

  • Hand out bird-themed cards to each guest.

  • Lead audiences on a peaceful walk to the trees

  • Assist guests in finding their designated pods based on their bird cards.

  • Provide gentle guidance and support to guests as they settle into their pods.

  • Ensure the comfort and cleanliness of pods between sessions.

  • Share in the joy of nature's treasures with guests through homemade Zaatar mix.

No prior experience is necessary—just a love for nature, a knack for hospitality, and a desire to be part of something special, led with care.
